As the Internet progresses and becomes more and more irreplaceable for entertainment, information and pretty much anything we do, blogging seems to be at the helm of it all. Bloggers write on all sorts of topics with a goal of increasing their page rank and, ultimately, readership. With the right information and forethought from the start, engaging blogs can create tons of conversation and followers that make it more and more popular as time goes on.
Following are several important tips when beginning a blog or even generating more interest to increase the readership. While there is tons of advice on writing great blogs, these seem to be the most prevalent suggestions with all the top online marketers and bloggers.

Post on a Consistent Basis. Many experts tell you to post at least once a week. But the important take-away is to make sure you post on a consistent basis. More important than frequency is consistency in terms of posting on the same day(s) every week.
Write ‘Guest Posts.’ Major bloggers sometimes enlist the help of ‘guest bloggers’ to write for them in an effort to spice things up or help them out from time to time. Writing a ‘guest post’ on another blog gives you the opportunity to get your name out in front of new readers by featuring a link to your website or blog for them to find out more about you and your blog. The best way to begin writing posts like these is to touch base with a handful of bloggers each week. As time goes on, not only do the bloggers come to you for more, but suddenly, your site is generating more traffic and increasing its readership.
Add Social Media Buttons. You want to make it very easy for readers to get your blogs. By adding social media buttons, your blogs are “liked” on Facebook, tweeted on Twitter, pinned on Pinterest and the list goes on. Ultimately, your blog ends up bookmarked on sites like Google Reader, StumbleUpon, Reddit and more.
Read and Make Comments on Other Blogs. Blogs that engage readers in conversation always draw big crowds. By participating in conversations, not only do you get ideas for new topics, you have the chance to include your web address when you give your information in order to post. The more interesting or entertaining things you have to say, the more curiosity you create. And, you know that does? It increases your own readership.
Be Interesting. This is probably the most important element to successful blogs. Blog readers go to certain blogs for two simple reasons. They are informative or they are entertaining. With that in mind, make sure that your blog accomplishes one or both of those purposes. Popular blogs feature topics that tie back to something current like a post you read online, a recent life event or even a conversation that came out of another blog as we talked about earlier. It is important to note that the content also needs to be well thought out. There is nothing worse than reading a blog that has no purpose and is filled with nothing but a bunch of words.

By employing these quick tips, new blogs and those that need to generate more interest gain more readership and followers. As we said before, readers follow blogs because they can count on them to be entertaining, informative and consistent. Do that and you will be on your way to being a well sought after blogger.
